Two engineers in a data centre reviewing the Stream Gateway cloud panel on a laptop, with a live sports broadcast on the wall screen

The basics

What the Stream Gateway does

Stream Gateway by CEF receives SRT and HLS and converts them to UDP unicast, multicast, HLS and DASH, plus HDMI and composite video. It runs on a Prime Box, a Raspberry Pi or a Linux server, managed from one cloud panel with automatic failover.

One reliable path from contribution to distribution.

How it works

From SRT / HLS contribution to UDP, HLS & DASH distribution

Step 1

Ingest

Point the gateway at your SRT source in caller mode, or an HLS source. A full multiplex is split into programs automatically.

Step 2

Convert

Each program becomes UDP unicast, UDP multicast, HLS or DASH, exactly how your network needs it.

Step 3

Deliver & monitor

Stream 24/7 to your HeadEnd or TVs, with failover, live monitoring and email alerts on every program.

Features

Everything you need to run a channel around the clock

SRT input (caller)

Connect to your SRT source in caller mode, either a full multiplex or a single program.

HLS input

Pull an HLS source and turn it into UDP or a clean HLS or DASH output.

UDP unicast & multicast

Deliver to set-top boxes, multiplexers and middleware on your IP network.

HLS and DASH output

A ready-to-use HLS or DASH URL for every program.

Automatic failover

Primary and backup sources with automatic switchover and reconnect.

Real-time monitoring

Per-program bitrate, packet loss, RTT and jitter, all live.

Cloud fleet panel

See and configure every device remotely from one cloud dashboard.

Email alerts

Notified on signal loss, black screen or pixelation, per program.

Up to 4 / 20 / 250 streams

Up to 4 streams on a Prime Box, 20 per Raspberry Pi and 250 on Linux.

HDMI and composite output

Send a program to HDMI (H.264 / AAC) on Prime Box, Pi 5 and Linux, or to composite video (RCA) on Prime Box; preview any program in the browser.

REST API

Automate configuration and provisioning from your own systems.

Per-device licensing

Each device is licensed individually and bound to its hardware.

Compatible hardware

Select and buy from your hardware provider

Prime Box, a compact black set-top box, beside the Prime logo Up to 4 streams

Prime Box

An efficient solution, perfect for distributing up to 4 channels. IP output, plus HDMI output (H.264 / AAC) and composite video (RCA).

Raspberry Pi in a black case, the hardware for the Raspberry Pi gateway Up to 20 streams

Raspberry Pi 4 / 5

Compact, with rack-mount options. IP output, plus HDMI output (H.264 / AAC) on the Pi 5 for local monitoring.

Rack-mount Linux server, the hardware for the Ubuntu Server gateway Up to 250 streams

Ubuntu (Linux) Server

Run up to 250 streams on your own Linux server, with IP and HDMI output. Capacity scales with your hardware.

Built for 24/7

Secure and reliable software for high demand operations

Every capability is there to keep your channels on air. Automatic failover, live monitoring and per-program alerts come built in.

The panels

Global management with local and cloud control.

The local panel of a gateway: UDP multicast output, detected programs, live preview and network stats

The local panel

On the device, on your own network: the SRT input and its failover, the UDP output, the detected programs, a live preview and the network stats.

  • SRT input with a failover source
  • UDP output and an HLS or DASH link per program
  • Detected programs and live preview
  • RTT, jitter and bandwidth, in and out
The cloud panel managing a fleet of gateways

The cloud panel

Every device in the fleet from one place, grouped, with its status, version and licence, and the actions you need without going on site.

  • Remote configuration of every device
  • Start and stop streams, restart, update, reboot
  • Status, version and licence per device
  • One-line installer for a new gateway
SRT input and failover configuration

Receive SRT with automatic failover

Point the gateway at your SRT source in caller mode. Add a failover source and it switches over on its own when the primary drops.

  • Caller-mode SRT input
  • Primary + failover with automatic switchover
  • Passphrase, latency and bandwidth control
UDP multicast output, detected programs, live preview and network stats

Output to UDP multicast and watch it live

Each detected program maps to its own UDP multicast address. Preview any program in the browser and keep an eye on the network in real time.

  • UDP unicast & multicast output
  • Per-program multicast addressing
  • Live RTT, jitter and bandwidth
Per-slot SRT and HLS sources

Up to 250 sources per device!

An incoming multiplex is split into program slots automatically, and any free slot can take its own SRT or HLS source. Linux scales to as many as 250 streams on capable hardware.

  • Auto-split of MPTS into slots
  • Individual SRT / HLS source per slot
  • Up to 4 on Prime Box · 20 on Raspberry Pi · 250 on Linux
HLS or DASH output URL per program

A ready-to-use HLS or DASH link per program

Every program also gets a clean HLS URL and a DASH URL on your network. Copy it and hand it to a player, middleware or app.

  • HLS and DASH output alongside UDP
  • One HLS and one DASH URL per program
  • HDMI on Prime Box, Pi 5 and Linux · composite on Prime Box
Email alerts for signal loss, black screen and pixelation

Email alerts that catch real failures

Get notified the moment a program goes wrong, not just when it stops. Detection covers signal loss, black screen and sustained pixelation.

  • Signal loss, black screen, pixelation
  • Email notifications per program
  • Test before you rely on it
Cloud panel managing a fleet of devices

Manage your whole fleet from the cloud

See every gateway in one place, with online status, version and license. Configure or control any of them remotely, from anywhere.

  • All devices grouped in one view
  • Remote config: SRT, UDP output, sources
  • Start / stop streams, update, reboot remotely
